This is Why I'm Home

One beautiful day last week, I kept thinking over and over how thankful I was to be at home with our girls full-time. I can't imagine having missed these moments:

jumping on our neighbors' trampoline

painting with acorns

giving rocks some personality with chalk

practicing writing names on our chalkboards

silly lunches

crafting and wrapping an early Christmas present

more monkey hanging with Daddy

making chocolate chip cookies

Not that we do this many fun activities every day--but it sure was a blast! And I'm so thankful to have been there for all of it.

THIS is why I'm home.

That is why we are all home. There is no greater call for both Dad and Mom to raise kids in a Godly manner. There are no good reasons for either of them to always be gone. Every Dad or Mom that I've talked to that was gone lots always regrets it. When we are about ready to depart this world, nobody will wish they had spent more time at work. It is vanity to work all your kids childhoods and let them go the way of the world. Kids need Dad and Mom at home often, not just one or the other or neither. I never feel bad when other people complain about or judge the way we live. The Lord has provided abundantly and we both get to be home often. Wisdom is justified by its fruit and I feel that we are the richest family alive.

This is my first time posting on your blog. I read your sister's blog. I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your post, it is just what I needed to hear today. Thank you and God bless!

I love your post! I keep forgetting to tell you how much I enjoyed the "dream job" article. Even Ali loves carrying around the picture of the little girl from it. I saved the article to share with other moms and read later on to remind myself on the hard days that this is what I want to be doing more than anything else; what I feel created to do!

I'm so glad you are able to be home with the girls. It looks like you are already a homeschooling mom whether you realized it or not!

toytrkman--I'm going to save your comment for my journal. You have very blessed kids to have a dad who can say that! I'm glad my nephews & nieces are so blessed.

Becky--I'm glad! Thank you for stopping by!

LS--Yeah, you're right. I must say, though, I really love not having to plan everything at this age. (I tend to take a LONG time creating my lesson plans!) Simply providing great experiences and materials, then just letting it happen, is enough in this season. Although it has also been fun seeing what you're doing with your kids! It looks GREAT.
