Latest Pictures

In the past few weeks we've enjoyed visits with family and with new friends, picking chokecherries and making chokecherry syrup, and seeing Daddy off to school once again. Here are some of our latest family fun pictures. (I'm hoping to blog again soon with more!)

Jumping on our friends' trampoline.

Kardelen doing her usual "monkey-hanging."

The girls wanted bandannas so they could be like Daddy.

We made s'mores in the microwave one day. The girls had fun watching the marshmallows puff up! The s'mores were a very gooey treat!

God bless you and your family!

Back, but Not Really Back

I love reading your blogs. They're such fun. Reading your blogs encourages me, helps me relax, and inspires me. But I'm going to have to ask you if you wouldn't mind our bloggy friendship being a little one-sided for now.

This summer we didn't have internet, and I was surprised at how much I didn't miss it. Missed keeping up with my friends, yes. But missed the constant distraction from my home and my family--no. Maybe it's just me--but when I was tired, I jumped online for a quick "bloggy fix." I felt the need to keep up with every post of my favorite blogs, every day. I felt the need to post many times per week, just to keep up my readership. This summer all that was gone. And I was amazed how much I enjoyed the simplicity.

What am I doing instead? Deep-cleaning my closets or some other superwomanly act? Nah. Just living. Doing dishes. Reading a book (The Gift of Asher Lev, to be precise.) Spending time with the kids and enjoying not feeling the "pull" of the online world.

This summer I finally decided to settle for mediocre. All the motivation I had to stay on top of everything all the time and try to build a "successful" blog has faded. I don't want to try to impress my blog readers with my cleaning strategies, or the wonderful activities I do with my children. (I'll admit it, I had been hoping a little to impress you.) I don't even want to keep my house super-clean all the time. I'm settling for time playing outside with the girls rather than keeping up with the dishes. I'm reading a book at night rather than folding laundry. My house is messier. I am happier.

I will still blog. I have lots of fun ideas and pictures. But it's going to be more sporadic. And I think that's okay. The world is not holding its breath for my next post. It's okay to plunge back into anonymity and just live life.

I'm going to enjoy it.

We just got internet again, so now I'm able to share with you this funny video of my children.

Enjoy.
