Not only did it make my day, it had a ripple effect and brought joy to me many different ways.
The gift made me aware of how many things in our home speak of the love of our family and friends: little things handmade just for us that make our home unique and special, and show the incredible blessings we've been given in those whom God has placed in our lives.
The gift made me excited to give to others. It was actually a result of the Facebook "I will make you something" fad going around last spring--and yes, I still haven't made my gifts for that! So now I'm thinking about it again. :)
The gift made me enjoy my home more, and be enthusiastic about decorating my living room. I used to be a bit more excited about this--but I'll admit, sometimes when I see our mismatched furniture, I wonder if it's worth it. Yet decorating doesn't have to be about making everything look like it came out of Better Homes and Gardens--it can be simply adding beauty and special touches to your own little space, however humble it may be. (I remember a good friend coming over to help me decorate when we lived in a well-worn trailer. She didn't think it was a lost cause, and the time she spent adding pretty touches gave me so much enjoyment!)
Heidi used fabric that's already on a "canvas" on our wall--how thoughtful!--and coordinated it with lots of pretty fabrics.
I love it, Heidi! Thank you!
