What a wonderful story! Sounds exactly like me some days, "I've gotta get out of here!" We always have so much fun and feel so much better after some time out of the house getting exercise!

Even though I've lived in MN the thought of driving on, snowmobiling across, or skating on a lake really freaks me. It creeped me out to hear about your subura driving ON the lake even though I know it's safe and tons of people do it! Our skating rink is an iced over baseball field so if it's a warm day and for some reason the ice melted we'd only sink a few inches.

Your story about taking a friend out is so funny! I admit, I got a little nervous when I saw the big cracks in the ice. But it's January, and I know the ice is really thick.

Funny--that outlet by Pamida is right where the ice road begins, at the boat landing. Obviously it's silly to drive near the bridge, but it is in that area that we got on the lake!

I liked you top picture! Family times are always fun to do, strange how it always seems so hard to actually take the time to do them. Tonight I stopped every bodies activities and I read them some Pat McManus stories. Doesn't take long and I think it will be something we all remember. I always LOVED driving on lakes in MN. I once took a work mate from the south out on Lake B. and drove around on our lunch break. He just about completely lost it when he saw a crack in the ice! It was hilarious! He wanted off of that lake fast! Just to assure you, those cars that go through are usually in the early winter or early spring when the ice is thin or weak. Or they drive too close to the outlet there by where Pamida is or was. I think you were safe! ;-} It looks like it has been nice there lately? It has been really warm here and it is melting all the snow.
